Wheel Balance

Correct wheel balance on your vehicle is very important. Unbalanced wheels can cause premature tyre wear, as well as causing accelerated wear of your steering components, shock absorbers and suspension. All this can seriously affect your car’s overall performance. If a wheel is out of balance, it will cause a noticeable vibration at high speeds that can be felt in the steering wheel and/or the seat of the vehicle.

A wheel balance ensures that the wheel and tyre weight is evenly distributed. This is done by spinning the wheel on a balancing machine that diagnoses whether or not the wheel is out of balance. If the wheel is out of balance, small weights are added precisely to the rim in the exact position diagnosed by the wheel balance’s computer. This ensures even weight distribution and a smooth and consistent rotation of the tyre.

Having regular wheel balancing and tyre rotation, along with a wheel alignment will increase tyre mileage. We recommend rotating and balancing your wheels every 10,000 km. Some vehicles, mostly 4 wheel drives and cars with low profile tyres require their wheels rotated and balanced even more frequently and a quick check of your tyres by one of our experienced team can advise you if this is the case on your vehicle
